Vestibular Rehabilitation II is an advanced, self-paced, 13.5-hour online course geared towards a differential diagnosis of complex diseases and disorders and management of the “chronic dizzy patient.” This course is designed for individuals who have experience treating vestibular patients or have taken an entry-level vestibular course. This course will delve deeper into vestibular dysfunction, psychological components, complex diagnoses, and rehabilitation techniques for complex case management. Following the completion of this course and satisfactory results on the examination, the participant will be certified in advanced vestibular rehabilitation.

This specialized advanced course is designed for rehabilitation and healthcare professionals who already have a foundational understanding of vestibular rehabilitation and management. Learners should have completed a foundational course in vestibular rehabilitation management. Appropriate prerequisite courses include AIB’s Vestibular Rehabilitation Certification course or another course with comparable content.

- Describe the personality disorders and corresponding manifestations resulting in psychogenic dizziness and imbalance, and the best treatment options.
- Assess and demonstrate advanced hybrid maneuvers for canalith repositioning for multiple comorbidities.
- Identify patterns of nystagmus associated with single and multiple canal BPPV involvement and the gold-standard repositioning maneuvers.
- Evaluate a “chronic dizzy patient” using the SPINS approach and perform an evidence-based examination for complex conditions.
- Integrate no/low-technology assessment protocols and explain emerging assessment equipment for patients with dizziness complaints.
- Formulate an appropriate plan of care including a treatment regimen for many complex vestibular and balance-related disorders.
- Describe the pathophysiology of complicating medical conditions on vestibular and balance dysfunction.
Prerequisites
Prior American Institute of Balance Certification in Vestibular Rehabilitation, Concussion, and/or Vestibular Assessment & Management, or Vestibular Rehabilitation Certification through Emory University.
