Effect of exercise therapy on physical performance and functional balance in patients on maintenance renal hemodialysis: randomized controlled study
Research supports Physical Therapy intervention with individuals with chronic conditions such as Parkinsons, Multiple Sclerosis, and Chronic Kidney disease. Abdelaal et al. (. J Exerc Rehabil 15, 472–480 (2019)) investigated the effects of different physical therapy interventions in a population of patients on renal maintenance hemodialysis. The researchers report that an aerobic exercise intervention produced better long term outcomes than even a strength training regimen. These findings highlight a potentially outsized role of fatigue in falls among patients with chronic conditions.
