Hybrid Vestibular Rehabilitation & Concussion Certification

The Vestibular Rehabilitation Certification Course is a 19.5-hour hybrid program designed for rehabilitation providers at all experience levels who want to become proficient in vestibular evaluation and management.

The course includes 12 hours of self-paced online learning followed by a 7.5-hour, one-day live session with hands-on clinical training, giving participants practical skills to assess and treat patients with dizziness, balance dysfunction, and vestibular disorders. The live portion is offered in major cities across the United States, allowing participants to choose a convenient location to complete their in-person training.

This evidence-based certification is ideal for physical therapists, occupational therapists, PT/OT assistants, audiologists, and certified athletic trainers. Participants learn essential vestibular rehabilitation techniques to confidently evaluate and manage dizzy patients, integrating the latest research and clinical best practices to improve outcomes and advance their practice.

Certification

Certification is earned once participants have completed BOTH the online and live portions and have passed BOTH the written exam for the online component, and the competency-based exam during the one-day live component.

Course Description

The course is a 19.5-hour, competency-based program designed for rehabilitation professionals seeking advanced, evidence-based training in the evaluation and treatment of vestibular disorders. This course provides a structured pathway to certification through a combination of online learning, hands-on training, and clinical assessment.

The program combines three essential components:

  • Online coursework covering foundational knowledge and evidence-based protocols
  • 1-day, in-person live workshop with hands-on lab sessions in vestibular assessment and treatment
  • Online Certification exam to demonstrate clinical competency

Upon successful completion of all three components, participants will earn their certification.

Clinicians completing this program will be equipped with practical evaluation tools, treatment techniques, and management strategies to improve outcomes for patients experiencing dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, and vestibular dysfunction.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe peripheral and central vestibular anatomy and physiology
  • Explain the concept of central compensation and those factors affecting it
  • Name the most common otologic and non-otologic conditions which may cause dizziness, vertigo, and imbalance
  • Demonstrate the most sensitive bedside/clinical evaluation protocols which identify candidates for treatment and proper triage and management
  • Differentiate vestibular test abnormalities that identify patients who are “appropriate” candidates for therapy.
  • Use diagnosis based strategies for designing and implementing a comprehensive vestibular rehabilitation program.
  • Apply specific therapy protocols within individualized programs for patients.
  • Select and perform the appropriate Canalith Repositioning Maneuvers for all forms of BPPV.
  • Describe the relationship of the cervical spine in the management of the “dizzy” patient.
