Hybrid Vestibular Assessment & Management Certification

Designed primarily for audiologists and physicians, this course provides in-depth training in Videonystagmography (VNG), Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP), Video Head Impulse Test (vHIT), and Rotational Chair protocols. Since its founding in 1992, The American Institute of Balance (AIB) has been at the forefront of vestibular assessment and education. Led by AIB’s expert faculty, this workshop provides clinicians with practical tools for best-practice vestibular assessment. Participants will gain hands-on experience and learn to effectively communicate findings to physicians and interdisciplinary teams. By the end of the course, attendees will have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver gold-standard vestibular testing, enhancing patient outcomes and advancing their clinical practice.

Individuals with an earned degree in a specialty designation such as audiology, physician (MD or DO), physician assistants, nurse practitioners, or registered nurse from an accredited university may certify.

Course Description

This course offers comprehensive instruction in Videonystagmography (VNG), Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP), Video Head Impulse Test (vHIT), and Rotary Chair protocols, combining in-depth lectures with extensive hands-on practice using state-of-the-art vestibular diagnostic equipment. Participants will learn evidence-based strategies to develop efficient, cost-effective clinical workflows, improve communication with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and enhance their ability to accurately diagnose and manage patients with vestibular disorders, including complex cases. This workshop equips clinicians with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to deliver gold-standard vestibular testing, elevate patient care, and advance their clinical practice.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the workshop attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the specifics and respective applications of the VNG, VHIT, VEMP, and Rotary Chair.
  • Recognize the preferred examination administration and protocols of each test
  • Identify the most commonly seen abnormalities for each e.g. vestibular neuritis etc.
  • Compare the relative practical value of each test within a diagnostic efficiency and predictive value format.
  • List the most effective and evidence-based management strategies based on test findings, including writing an accurate and concise Medical Report.

Attendees will have a hands-on opportunity to practice and be coached in all test protocols by AIB’s experienced faculty.

Target Audience

Individuals with an earned degree in a specialty designation such as audiology, physician (MD or DO), physician assistants, nurse practitioners, or registered nurse from an accredited university may certify. 

This course is approved for Florida PT and PTA at this time. If you are a non-florida PT and would like earn CEU for this course, you will need to submit to your state board.
