Dr. Konin earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from Eastern Connecticut State University in Physical Education, a Master’s of Education degree (M.Ed.) in Sports Medicine from the University of Virginia, a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy (MPT) from the University of Delaware, and a Ph.D. in Physical Therapy from Nova
Southeastern University.
Dr. Konin, most recently served as professor and chair of the physical therapy department at the University of Rhode Island. He has held numerous academic and clinical leadership positions, and is an Internationally recognized author and speaker. Dr. Konin is the recipient of numerous awards for his teaching, service, and leadership, including recognition for his excellence in the delivery of continuing education. He has also served as an expert consultant for medicolegal cases, academic program development, curricular review and assessment, and clinical practice operations.
Dr. Konin has authored 24 academic textbooks and shared his expertise at professional
conferences and exchanges throughout the United States as well as in Australia, New Zealand,
Italy, Norway, Romania, England, Netherlands, Spain, and Austria. His clinical experiences have
included stints at the United States Olympic Training Centers in Lake Placid and Colorado
Springs, and serving on the medical staff for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He has also
served as a medical coordinator for the USA Wheelchair Rugby Paralympic Team, and provided
care for NASCAR and Professional Rodeo events.
Dr. Konin has joined the organization as the Vice President of Global Education & Research. In
this role, he is responsible for the evaluation and development of AIB’s on-line and live
workshop curriculums. In addition, he will facilitate the development and implementation of a
research infrastructure and scholarly agenda that will be integrated in collaboration with the
AIB diagnostic and rehabilitation teams to ensure the highest level of clinical services.
